PROJECTS

We were asked to present development proposals to the landowners for this interesting part of Mayfair in Westminster which included proposals to redevelop the car park set back from South Audley Street – a lamentable addition to the Mayfair streetscape in the 11970’s.

Our proposal included new high-quality stores, the formation of a real urban square with elegant apartments spread out within a large palazzo building, giving the impression of an older grand building of the type found in Paris or Vienna.

‘‘A synthesis of urban design and elegant apartments in a beautiful part of London.’’

AUDLEY SQUARE, MAYFAIR
LONDON, UK

Our development proposals sought to reinforce the existing character of this part of Mayfair, building up to the established hights of surrounding buildings and maintaining the existing urban massing and development density whilst providing elegant accommodation within classically articulated buildings.

‘‘The design sought to add charm and classical elegance as a replacement for dull and out-of-scale existing buildings.’’

The Details

The creation of a small scale urban square was seen as a natural extension southwards of the excellent work undertaken by the Grosvenor Estate northwards in South Audley Street in recent years.
