We were commissioned by a property consortium of local landowners to consider how an extension to Bradfield-Southend might be configured. The site area of 7.5 acres is located to the north of the village which is surrounded by an ’area of outstanding natural beauty’ and Green Belt designation.
Our outline proposals, which have not been developed, took the existing settlement pattern as a basis for the urban design layout to create the maximum continuity in terms of building form and size in relation to the established street pattern. The idea being to create something with a timeless and natural feel using local craftspeople and materials and thereby continue the character and quality of local building.
